what interests me now

I liked this post on Makura No Soshi:

What interests me now

is not poetry, but living some version of the good life.

The Good Life Center is in Harborside, Maine. Their website is not loading properly for me right now. We’ve visited the actual physical site. Unfortunately, the house is currently closed due to unhealthy levels of mold, and the stewards have moved out. So it goes. The grounds are still open. There is a large four season organic farm just down the road.

Jeannette Winterson, “Shafts of Sunlight”

…Eliot saying, as he does in his essay “Tradition and the Individual Talent”, that “poetry is not a turning loose of emotion, but an escape from emotion; it is not the expression of personality, but an escape from personality. But of course only those who have personality and emotions know what it means to want to escape from those things.”

The essay is here.
