The earlier ones were on short stubby stems, but later in the season I found these very long glossy beauties. They had closed heads when I brought them inside for drying, but they soon opened up to make the familiar globe of fuzz. I cut all the heads off and composted them to avoid freefloating dandelion seeds in the house. After these stems dry, I’ll try twisting them into cordage. The woven pieces Alice makes out of cordage are quite remarkable.

*From her website: “Artist based in West Yorkshire, UK, harnessing natural processes and working with found, gathered and grown materials.”

Alice Fox* on Instagram got me interested in the stems of dandelions.
