And I have read that LW was not a machine gunner, nor a stretcher carrier in WWI, he operated a search light on a boat (much more apt!). (Ray Monk bio) <\/p>\n<p>But no matter, there&#8217;s the epigram: <\/p>\n<blockquote><p>&#8220;My propositions serve as elucidations in the following way:<br \/>\n        anyone who understands them eventually recognizes them as<br \/>\n        nonsensical, when he has used them &#8212; as steps &#8212; to climb<br \/>\n        up beyond them. (He must, so to speak, throw away the ladder<br \/>\n        after he has climbed up it.)&#8221; &#8212; Ludwig Wittgenstein, Tractatus<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Throw away the ladder after you have climbed up it.
