It feels strange to post about yesterday sometimes. I feel like Grace &#8220;I&#8217;m not good at yesterday.&#8221; Today feels quite different, sunny and the wind is knocking snow off the trees. But yesterday was so beautiful, I want to make a record of it. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Just a light snow falling. Not much on the ground, but perfect coverage. Very little wind. I said to Sam &#8220;Everything is in its place.&#8221; Snow. Dirt. Trees. Gravel. Water. Rocks. The snowy monochromatic world seemed very simple and peaceful. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"750\" height=\"1000\" src=\"https:\/\/www.gemtactics.net\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/01\/img_6109.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-12289\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.gemtactics.net\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/01\/img_6109.jpg 750w, https:\/\/www.gemtactics.net\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/01\/img_6109-225x300.jpg 225w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 750px) 100vw, 750px\" \/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">Looking back at where we came from<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Sam didn&#8217;t want to go at first. We were rusty about the whole enterprise. We put skis and poles in the car, then drove off without our ski boots &#8211; how could I forget them? He saw this as a good excuse to get out of it, but I insisted he turn back. He also forgot gloves, so we picked those up. Once he got out there, he was fine, chatting happily about places in his imagination (other planets &#8211; like here?) and enjoying the peaceful beauty.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"750\" height=\"1000\" src=\"https:\/\/www.gemtactics.net\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/01\/img_6108.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-12290\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.gemtactics.net\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/01\/img_6108.jpg 750w, https:\/\/www.gemtactics.net\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/01\/img_6108-225x300.jpg 225w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 750px) 100vw, 750px\" \/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">Sam ahead of me next to Breakneck Pond (I think) <\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>We didn&#8217;t ski very far, maybe an hour. Today I feel it, just a little, in my shoulders and groin muscles. I am so glad we went. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Back to today &#8211; I finished stitching down side 3 of my repair patch. Moving on to side 4. I&#8217;m fiddling a lot with the pinning and focusing on making my stitches regular. My feelings about this quilt are starting to soften.
