I used to crave it, and use it as a reprieve from work. Now I’m reluctant. Everything happens so fast and so intensely. It’s too overwhelming to blog about. There are lots of photos. There’s a button on my vest from the retirement protests in Paris. Which we happened to join.

I enjoyed seeing some iconic sights, some very old churches, the bucolic countryside, and translating some French signs and menus. I can’t speak French, but found I could translate usefully during our travels.

I’m happy to be back home.

Following Jude’s lead, I tied a warp around a box. It looks fancy. Some old dyed satin and sari silk ribbon I had on hand.

Here’s the front. When I wove into this the first time, it didn’t look right because of the alternating width of the warps. So I cut the wider ones in half.

Here it is today, with some brown silk woven in. I am having fun with this. No stitching yet.

And gardening. After four days of clouds and some rain, we had a sunny afternoon yesterday. My pea seeds have sprouted. Always so exciting and rewarding.

And I’m working on reducing the size of the tansy bed in the front garden. It’s an invasive plant. I should probably remove all of it. But the flowers are so cheerful. I left a small patch. Every year, the patch gets smaller in the spring, then regrows vigorously all summer.

I’m involved with a lot of things, really a lot, too much.
