It doesn&#8217;t torture me by raising questions, other than a desire to read up on the meaning of &#8220;pastoral.&#8221; I can read this poem and enjoy the ironic humor, the poem&#8217;s leaps and turns. It starts out with the convention of &#8220;pastoral&#8221; and moves very quickly toward a much more modern meditation. <\/p>\n<p>The last phrase seems very resonant to me of our whole human dilemma: <\/p>\n<blockquote><p>wondering<br \/>\nWhat in the world he did that was so wrong.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Michael Kelleher has an ongoing multi-year blog project called Aimless Reading at <a href=\"http:\/\/pearlblossomhighway.blogspot.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">Pearlblossom Highway.<\/a> He is posting an entry about every one of his books. I enjoy this type of extended effort. It is an aspect of that ecobuzzword &#8220;sustainability.&#8221; There is a very valuable energy at work in sustained effort. <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Pastoral Michael Kelleher Ecopoetics 1 page 57 This is an enjoyable piece.
