I finished the third crewel piece. I’m thinking back to the winter day in January when I began these. I really didn’t know what I was doing. I am not used to stitching with crewel yarn or using crewel techniques. Now I know more. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

This one has so much yarn in each shape that it seems like little puffy pillows have formed on the fabric. I don’t think that’s really officially right, but that’s how it is. I just kept going until I liked the way the shading looked. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Here are all three pieces together. The concept of the collaboration is that they will be stitched together with others’ work into a sort of wall hanging. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

As far as knitting, I had to shelve this vest for awhile due to frustration. I twisted the two fronts while joining so that the vest forms a Moebius strip with the back piece. So I laboriously unknit those few rows across the front. Then – I DID IT AGAIN. Eventually I’ll tear it out again and try one more time, after I get over my reaction. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

We had a winter storm yesterday. Cold temps, snow, and high winds. Eventually snow turned to rain overnight, a lot of rain, then more snow and more freezing. I can’t explain what happened meteorologically but it was complicated and messy. Our motivation to clean up the snow is very low – because – well, melting and refreezing and more rain in the forecast. Better just to try to wait it out if possible. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

So yeah, we went grocery shopping on Thursday and I bought a big bunch of tulips. Too big for any individual vase, so I separated them. Spring is going to happen. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
