Appropriately in October, five years after I started it. Its name has always been the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gemtactics.net\/wordpress\/2020\/10\/october-cloth\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">October cloth<\/a>, although I worked on it in different seasons. It also rested a lot. But the texture of the stitching is so delightful to touch. I\u2019m indulging that sense by using it as a lap blanket when I meditate in the morning. Also appropriate because it\u2019s getting just a little cooler in the mornings. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I am in love with the velvet squares in the corners. Silk velvet (purchased years ago from dyer <a href=\"https:\/\/albedoarlee2.ca\/page\/2\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Arlee Barr<\/a>). Something about its juxtaposition with the darks and lights of the ecoprints on silk broadcloth (I think?) that i used for the border.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"768\" height=\"1024\" src=\"https:\/\/www.gemtactics.net\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/10\/img_0331-768x1024.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-15038\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.gemtactics.net\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/10\/img_0331-768x1024.jpg 768w, https:\/\/www.gemtactics.net\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/10\/img_0331-225x300.jpg 225w, https:\/\/www.gemtactics.net\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/10\/img_0331.jpg 1000w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 768px) 100vw, 768px\" \/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">A favorite corner &#8211; lots of textures<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>The backing is an old tablecloth. I cut it down to have fringe on two edges. I used green thread for one of the first squares I stitched, and it stands out. The rest are pale dyed colors and undyed off-white.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"764\" height=\"782\" src=\"https:\/\/www.gemtactics.net\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/10\/image.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-15045\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.gemtactics.net\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/10\/image.jpg 764w, https:\/\/www.gemtactics.net\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/10\/image-293x300.jpg 293w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 764px) 100vw, 764px\" \/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">Reverse<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>And I\u2019m also working on the Dark Butterfly cloth. I stitched the four words associated with the four wings. I also added a head and antennae. I was going to baste it into the quilt sandwich, but I\u2019m hesitating. I feel it\u2019s lacking something. The lettering is not as bold as I wanted. Maybe bold appliqu\u00e9 lettering along the bottom? It\u2019s cloudy, supposed to rain later. A visit that was supposed to happen is not going to happen, leaving me feeling deflated. I should be energized by this suddenly available free time!
