Eventually I hope to be able to tell asters apart. It’s clear there are white ones and purple ones. There are light purple and deep purple. There are large blossoms and tiny blossoms. I walked yesterday and tried to identify asters in the neighborhood using the Plant app, but realized I don’t trust it. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

My favorite, of course, are the bright purple New England (New York?) asters that I planted in the back flower row and returns every year. They are gorgeous. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

I didn’t post pictures of the tiny aster that grows in the front garden and throughout the lawn. The Plant app identified it as “calico” but that’s not what I think of as calico aster. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

At the start of my walk, I watched from a distance as this deer watched me from the roadside. I didn’t move and neither did she. A moment later, a young one crossed the road and to my surprise started to nurse! I was standing right there! I’ve never seen this before. The photo is blurry because it is so cropped, but you can see how alert the mother is. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
