everyone had to shower before class on the second day
\nI had a bad feeling about this – too many people, not enough time<\/p>\n
I was in charge of a small boy, maybe my nephew, maybe just a friend
\nhe was very small for his age and dark and had dreadlocks<\/p>\n
we were second in line for the shower
\nit was in an open tiled pit, beige tile, very blocky, several levels<\/p>\n
I wasn’t sure how to use it, where to stand, what to do
\nI disrobed in front of other people, very nonchalant, very natural <\/p>\n
the boy was a handful
\nhe couldn’t focus on showering but ran off in many directions<\/p>\n
I persisted in chasing him and bringing him back to the task at hand
\nI stood him on a ledge and washed his body<\/p>\n
I noticed it was getting dark out
\nit had taken us all day to shower <\/p>\n
other people were still waiting
\nwe missed the class<\/p>\n
I realized I hadn’t shampooed his hair yet
\nI didn’t know how to shampoo dreadlocks<\/p>\n
I let it go
\nI assessed him<\/p>\n
he was clean and dressed in a nice navy blue outfit
\nbatik-like print shirt, solid shorts<\/p>\n
