Must have been a popular needle book! Made in Japan. There are so many needles and pins…The bread turned out great.

When my Mom passed away, she died two years after my Dad, I thought to myself, well now I am an orphan and the word sliced…Her funeral was also head in November, a time of gathering but also a time of seasonal poignancy.

Mom did wonderful embroidered work, made lace, knitted and crocheted and I wanted no part of it. My sister was more into all of that but when we sorted through her stuff, for some reason, I so wanted her silver thimble…and I, at the time, did not stitch. See her thimble held stories because when she used it, she would speak of her childhood in Spain, her adventures coming to America, etc…those stories were all melded into her silver thimble for me. My sister took her sewing basket and I took the thimble..

42 years later, my Mom died when I was in my 30’s, the thimble is used when I have a particularly tough piece of rusty dyed cloth to stitch on…when it gets too tarnished, I polish it and I know that my Mom is enjoying a quiet chuckle to see me use it!

Wonderful thimble tale, Marti. I will have to look through the boxes more carefully. I know mom used a thimble, but not sure if it’s in there. I don’t use one, but I may try to learn.
