Ice (my kind) and fire
The rail trail was very icy. And it was raining lightly. So it was wet and slippery. But something came over me and I just wanted to walk it. It was a good workout for the legs and the mind. Walking on a slippery surface activates different muscles in your legs and feet. Trying to make each step carefully made me pay attention. Sometimes there was still some snow at the side, easier walking, but fighting with foliage.
This seemed like a pretty foolhardy thing to do, since falling could have been a disaster, but we made the walk successfully. I don’t know at what age I will become sensible, maybe never.

These colors together! I think this is a black huckleberry. Lately I’m always thinking about knitwear and pairing colors. The fiery orange of the leaves and the icy blue-gray of the berries with red-brown for the stems – can you just see it as a colorwork sweater!
