Book interlude

I made a little folded book bound by a strip inserted into slits. Made from scraps and a strip of wrapping paper. I was so motivated to make it and finish it. I’d like to make it with nicer paper and maybe with cloth.

Demo’d on Instagram by @livrosgabrielairigoyen.

Spine
Single center page has a slit that holds the strip. The woven binding starts from here.
The strip then goes through the slit on the spines of the booklet and the cover. Then the ends of the strip separate and are woven through the cover slits and folded over at the flaps.

More ideas:

  • Multiple slits on the covers? Now there are only two.
  • In cloth, use buttonhole stitch to bind the edges of the slits.
