A Sunday in April
I’m feeling happy this morning. Lately I often feel happy in the mornings, looking forward to the day. Especially when there is sunshine. Today there is an abundance of sunshine, with thin white scraps of cloud high up.
Also happy because I’ve made progress on this last Golden House piece. The borders are stitched in place – a purple cloth with stars – but I decided to add more to the base. Previously it was a sharp diagonal, as though the house were perched on a hill. I added more scraps to fill out the lower triangle. There is some blue, as though water were flowing nearby, a bridge of sorts, and some foliage. It won’t look quite like this after I stitch the scraps down, but that’s the idea.
Piece in a earlier configuration
I often take strength from looking at this tall pine, the only one left in the yard. I imagine it is happy in the sunshine and the breeze.
That is a tall pine! You know how I love my tall row of trees (like the ones in the background), but also there is something to be said for those solitary guards.
I was just saying to J. that I am fascinated by myself int he fact that I do not much enjoy artists talks in a gallery setting – but yet love to read about an artist’s process on their blogs and I write about my own as well. What on earth?! This – like your telling here – is so much less “prepared” (even if it is prepared) and more personal. All of this nonsense from me just to say I enjoyed reading your thoughts and going back and forth between the before/now photos. Thanks for sharing.
Interesting – I’ll have to think about sharing more process on my blog. It does seem a lot more personal and engaging.
