Rainbow!

Rainbows are so beautiful. I was thrilled to see one last Sunday. They have been rare because rain has been so scarce.
I got my six baby plants planted. Two look rather shriveled, not sure if they are viable. Maybe their roots are still healthy. I also transplanted some plants thtat were outgrowing their spot, or were in the way. I have a little more transplanting to do, but that can wait awhile.
I’m reviewing a manuscript written by my friend. It has me in a more-than-usually heady space. There is a lot of philosophical content, and I have to use brain power. I used to do a lot more copy editing, both in my job and as favors for friends, although I don’t have any formal training in it. The most interesting part of the process is noticing when I feel confused and then asking why? and coming up with suggestions to clarify.
The growing season is winding down. I bought a huge cabbage at the farmer’s market last weekend and made sauerkraut with it today.
We took some items to the Free Market, a new mutual aid event locally. A large framed print which I’d grown tired of. A bird feeder we don’t use. A weedwhacker we don’t use. Miscellaneous kitchen tools we either don’t use or have duplicates of. A set of those little cob-shaped corn holders that you stick into the ends of corn on the cob – we never use them, just grab the cob with our hands. It feels really really good to declutter, even though the process is extremely gradual. We only brought home one item, a nice large saucepan, so that’s a real win. They stopped taking books, so the books we were donating went into a Little Free Library.
The Common Ground Fair is this weekend. We are looking forward to it, of course. Sam has a commissioner’s conference Thursday, Friday and Saturday so he’ll miss most of it. I’ll spend some time at the fair on Friday and Saturday and we’ll both visit on Sunday. I’m really looking forward to it. I need some time away to regroup and reset.
