A cold but easy day
We’re back home from Rockland. It’s 7 degrees, supposed to fall to -7 tonight. Somehow the cold doesn’t seem so bad. I just expect it to be cold – dress accordingly, or don’t go too far from the comfort (survival!) of a heat source. I rushed out to the car to get a forgotten piece of ginger scone I left in the driver’s door pocket. It was – cold. I’m sure it froze overnight.
On the way home we stopped multiple times to pick up “necessities.” We’d only been gone two-and-a-half days, but in that time developed all kinds of deficits, I guess. I bought some black yarn for the afghan repair and a pair of size 4 knitting needles. We got some bananas, broccoli, some pasta, and some romano cheese. I took out three books from the library: two on Wyeth and one on Icelandic knitting. We stopped to chat with a local store owner who knows everything about everyone. It’s good to have distractions and good to be home. I guess I should mention that big snow is supposed to fall Sunday night into Monday, currently 10 inches total forecast. There’s an odd sensation of battening down even as today everything is lit up by extravagant sunshine.
Andrew Wyeth is on my mind. So is Wuthering Heights.
Catherine~ Wow, what wallpaper! My mom was a wallpaper person…had it in the two places she and my dad bought (so not the apartment rental I spent my first 13 years in). I have never had wallpaper in my homes, but I’ve also never owned them, so, there’s that. haha
Isn’t it funny how many things one ‘needs’ pop to mind when the getting of said things may not be good or easy or right. I thought of things I needed on Friday, when folks weren’t shopping to support MN. I waited a day 😉
The shop owner sounds like a character in a book, but maybe I just still have “Theo of Golden” so much on my mind! I’m glad you are warm and cozy and have food and activities to do. Enjoy the quiet time.
I tried some wallpaper when I lived in CT but didn’t like it. I don’t have the decorating gene…but I loved this wallpaper in the inn.
