Happy trails
This has been a great winter for snow. It’s kind of unbelievable! After a number of years that convinced me the snowy weather was gone, due to drought and climate change, this winter has come as a real gift.
We have been enjoying cross-country skiing, especially in Acadia where the trails are well-groomed. I’m a beginner skier at best, not having much opportunity (due mostly to aforementioned lack of snow). This year I’ve gotten more experience than in the past 10 years. But I also feel fragile and nervous. I fell once, flat on my back and still feel stiffness and soreness somewhere in my chest. But all other parts are functional, so far. I really want to stay upright. There’s probably only a few more weeks of this before it gets muddy and icy.
These photos were taken over a few days in the past week. We had an afternoon blizzard on Monday (blowing snow, forming deep drifts) and a lovely little snowstorm on Wednesday afternoon.
