Schoodic Bog Trail
I love this trail and every autumn I have the urge to hike it. Our timing was a little early this year. It’s not autumn yet and the leaves are still green. I barely took any photos, I was enjoying the hike so much. Sam and I took our neighbor along with us. He’s been coming up here in the summer for years and never explored the bog. It’s been dry, of course, so the part of the trail that goes near a beaver dam was passable on foot. No detour required.

We took a wrong turn at a certain point. I realized my photo of the trail map was not going to help because I got Sam’s hand in the way. Oh well. Had to resort to the AllTrails map, which was very helpful.
I don’t expect to see wildlife, but I usually do. We didn’t see many birds at all, which was concerning. But I did see this frog. I spontaneously said “Hello, little buddy.” So happy to see one. Right on the rail trail too, where ATV (All Terrain Vehicles) were coming by regularly and noisily. Luckily most of the trail is in the woods and not on the rail trail.
Maybe I’ll hike this again when autumn does come for sure.
