In the garden
It finally feels warm and sunny enough to work in the garden. This new bed didn’t even take as long as I anticipated. It was Sam’s bright idea to move the slab of wood to the other side. It was just making the removal of grass roots and other weeds more difficult on the right side. There’s still more weeding to be done on the right, but at least the new berries are planted. This used to be an asparagus bed, but somehow we killed off all the asparagus (sadly) while trying to rearrange it. I will buy asparagus from a farmer’s market this year and maybe plant some of my own in another bed in the fall.

Also – the peas and fava beans are up. This is so cheering. The little peas are reaching out their tendrils for something to climb.

I’ve been knitting, as usual. I’m working on baby socks for a baby shower coming up soon. I think I can finish them. I held up the sock and was struck by the weird symmetry of the needles and the dark heel opening. Interesting, but what do you do with images like that?
